This policy explains what Askan Commerce collects when you use
www.askancommerce.com, why we collect it, and what
you can ask us to do with it. It is written to describe what this website actually does, rather
than to cover every practice a website might have.
The short version
We do not run analytics, advertising pixels or third-party trackers on this site. Browsing it
sets no cookies. The only personal information we hold is what you type into our contact form and
send to us deliberately.
What we collect
When you contact us
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number and your message. When you
submit it we also record which page you were on and the IP address the submission came from. The
page tells us what you were reading when you decided to get in touch; the IP address is kept
because it is how we limit automated abuse of the form.
We use this only to reply to you and to carry on the conversation you started. We do not sell
it, rent it, or add you to a marketing list you did not ask for.
When you browse
Our web server keeps standard request logs — IP address, timestamp, the page requested and
your browser’s user-agent string. These are ordinary server records used for security and fault
diagnosis, and they are not linked to anything else about you.
Cookies
Visiting this site sets no cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to
administer the site, which is our own staff. There is no advertising or analytics cookie to
consent to, because we do not use any.
Where it goes
Contact form submissions are stored on our own server, in this website’s database, and are
also emailed to our team. Email is delivered through Google Workspace, which means a copy passes
through and is retained by Google’s mail service as part of normal email delivery.
We do not share your information with anyone else, other than where we are required to by law.
We do not transfer it to third parties for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as the conversation is useful — typically while a project is
live and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we can pick up where we left off. If you would
rather we did not, ask us and we will delete your record. Server logs are rotated on a routine
schedule.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your enquiry and any record of it;
- stop using your information for anything you did not intend.
Email info@askantech.com and we will action it. We do
not require a particular form of words, and we will not charge you for it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, administrative access is restricted and protected against
repeated login attempts, and the database is not reachable from the public internet. No system is
perfect, and we will tell you promptly if something happens that affects your information.
Children
This is a business-to-business website. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly
collect information from them.
Changes
If we change how this site handles personal information — for example if we add analytics —
we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described here
rather than made quietly.
